Tamil Kolam Art Workshop (Sample)

Learn kolam - the art at every Tamil doorstep

Every morning, across Tamil Nadu and Sri Lanka, doorsteps are decorated with kolam: patterns drawn in rice flour that welcome guests and feed the ants. In this relaxed two-hour class you will learn to draw them yourself.

What you will learn

1. Pulli kolam - placing a dot grid (5x5, then 7x7)
2. Sikku kolam - one unbroken line looping around every dot
3. Colour kolam - filling a festival design with coloured powder

• Rice flour, coloured powders and a practice board
• A printed booklet with 20 designs

Perfect for complete beginners, parents with kids aged 6+, and anyone getting ready for Pongal. Tea and murukku served at the break.
